Your questions, our tips - ExAller®
  • WHERE CAN I BUY EXALLER®?

ExAller® is available in every pharmacy (in stores as well as online).
  • IS THE EXALLER® SOLUTION TOXIC?

No. The plant extracts in the solution are present in a very low dose and are not harmful to human beings, animals or the environment.
  • ON WHICH TYPE OF TEXTILE SHOULD I USE EXALLER®?

Different types of textile can be used such as bed linen, towels or the ExAller® textile. The textile needs to be 100% cotton.
  • CAN I ALSO GET RID OF OTHER TYPES OF MITES (ITCH MITES, FLOUR MITES, ...) WITH EXALLER®?

No, because these mites do not communicate in the same way as dust mites. The signal from the pheromones do not attract other types of mites.
  • HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO REPEAT THE TREATMENT WITH EXALLER®?

TO ELIMINATE THE SOURCE OF THE ALLERGENS use once a week for the first three weeks.
TO PREVENT FURTHER OCCURENCE use once a month.
  • CAN I ALSO USE EXALLER® ON OTHER UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE?

Of course, you can use ExAller® on other upholstered furniture: mattress, sofas, carpets, chairs, …You can treat a chair or sofa in the same way as a mattress: be sure that the entire chair is covered with a 100% cotton textile and spray the solution. After 2 hours, take the textile away and wash it in the washing machine. Repeat the treatment according to the same instructions as for the mattress.
  • WHY SHOULD I AERATE THE MATTRESS?

If the mattress is first aerated for 2 hours, then the mites will be more sensitive to the chemical signal (the pheromones) from ExAller®. Optimal time for aeration is 2 hours.
  • DOES THE MATTRESS HAVE TO AERATE FOR EXACTLY TWO HOURS?

This is the optimal time it takes for ExAller® to be most effective. Fifteen minutes more or less will not influence the effectiveness, but more than an hour’s difference will indeed decrease the sensitivity.
  • CAN I ALSO USE EXALLER® ON OTHER UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE SURFACES?

Of course, you can use EXALLER® on every surface: the sofa, the chair… All these upholstered pieces of furniture are real dust mite problems because the mites can crawl into the furniture deeply to avoid dehydration. You can also treat the stuffed animals from your children with EXALLER®.
  • WHAT DO I DO WITH PILLOWS?

You can let the pillows and treat them at the same time as the mattress. Another option is to wash the pillows with soap at 60°C (140°F) or place them in a freezer for 48 hours.
  • WHAT DO I NEED TO DO WITH THE SHEETS, MATTRESS PROTECTORS, AND OTHER COVERS?

For an optimal performance, you will need to remove all sheets and covers (mattress protectors, anti-allergy covers) from the mattress. If possible, wash them at 60°C (140°F).
  • HOW DO I REMOVE DUST MITES FROM MY DUVET?

You can wash your duvet at 60°C (140°F), or, if it is a non-synthetic duvet, leave it on the mattress and treat it with ExAller®. Reminder: it is still necessary to treat the mattress separately.
  • I CANNOT/AM NOT ALLOWED TO WASH MY SHEETS/COVERS/DUVET AT 60°C (140°F). HOW CAN I REMOVE THE MITES THEN?

You can treat them by laying them on the mattress and using ExAller®. Reminder: it is still necessary to treat the mattress separately. You can also place your sheets and covers in a freezer for 48 hours.
  • MAY I LEAVE THE ANTI-ALLERGY COVER AROUND MY MATTRESS?

No. This type of cover forms a physical barrier around the mattress and the mites cannot crawl to the 100% cotton textile. This is why all synthetic covers need to be taken from the mattress.
  • HOW DO I SPRAY THE SOLUTION?

Spray from a distance of ±30 cm (±12 in). Do not exceed the recommended dosage. (single bed mattress: 24 sprays; double bed mattress: 48 sprays; per pillow: 3 sprays)
  • DO I NEED TO SPRAY THE SOLUTION ON THE MATTRESS?

No, you do not need to spray the mattress. You need to spray the solution on a 100% textile (such as bed linen, towels or the ExAller® textile) that covers your mattress. Thanks to the signal of the ExAller solution, the mites will crawl to the textile and get stuck.
  • WHAT IF I HAVE SPRAYED TOO MUCH SOLUTION?

There is no advantage to spraying more than the recommended dosage.
  • DO I NEED TO LEAVE THE TEXTILE ON THE MATTRESS FOR EXACTLY TWO HOURS?

Remove the textile after minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hours is the optimal time to treat the mattress with ExAller® and remove 80% of the mites. Fifteen minutes more or less will not influence the effectiveness, but if you leave it longer, the mites will crawl back into the mattress (they are still alive when they are stuck in the textile).
  • HOW DO I BEST WASH THE TEXTILE?

Wash it at 60°C with soap, without fabric softener. The temperature and the soap will eliminate the mites and the allergens. The use of fabric softener is not recommended because the strong odor of the fabric softener overpowers the signal of the pheromones.
  • CAN I WASH THE MITE-INFESTED TEXTILE WITH OTHER CLOTHES?

You can wash the textile with other clothes (that can handle a wash at 60°C (140°F)) without issue.
  • CAN I WASH THE TEXTILE LATER?

You can store the cloth in a closed plastic bag until your next washing.
  • WHY DO I NEED TO VACUUM?

Vacuuming is necessary to remove the excrement of the dust mites, which causes the allergic reactions. This step is especially important after the first 3 treatments.
